Built as CSXT 7627 then sold to Pan Am in 2017, this unit has made a full circle as the first Pan Am unit to be repainted and renumbered after going back to CSX once they bought Pan Am in June of 2022. Pretty nice to see a C40-8 in fresh paint on a Class 1 in 2022. WAPO with CSXT 9280 - CSXT 6508 arrives at Rigby Yard with 35 cars and heads for Track 6 to yard their train of mostly loads. |

Westbound at Bangor |
| Description: |
Of the very few trains I've ever photographed rolling along the waterfront in downtown Bangor this was my first time getting a westbound. L072-20 returns west to Hermon about sixteen hours late with the L060 (NM-1) crew aboard; with CSXT 9280 - CSXT 8873 in&charge of about the typical forty cars from Mattawamkeag. They will stop at Northern Maine Junction for a brief crew swap with the eastbound which had been waiting patiently for a few hours with MEC lettered blobs for power. Unfortunately the sun had just about set by the time this train continued west toward Carmel as L071-21, but it was worth it to check a few new spots off of my list. |

With the first two units looking like a lashup from Florida in the early 2000s, U070 makes its trip east on the Waterville Subdivision through Belgrade, Maine in a rare late day run. While by far not the division with the highest traffic volume on the CSX system, the New England Division has become the place to find some of CSXs most unique motive power left on their roster, as well as the remaining Pan Am painted locomotives for some variety, kept mostly east of Portland with a few exceptions.
